Mt Barney Retreat is fortunate to be surrounded by national park, and adjacent to some of the most spectacular walks in a pristine World Heritage wilderness area.
Located 750m above sea level, this gives guests unrivaled and fast access to the Focal Peak caldera, the remnants of an ancient range of volcanoes, and to the Gondwana Rainforest.
Mt Barney Retreat's expert guide, Jarrah Keenan, has decades of experience of exploring the forests of the East Coast of Australia. He's a natural guide and leader in Australian forest, as well as an accomplished naturalist, a passionate bushwalker and instructs outdoor education camps all over Australia.
Bush walks on offer vary in time and distance, from easy 3-4 hours walks to a 2-day overnight trek to Mt Ballow.
The more adventurous can take a guided walk into the ancient volcanic remains of focal Peak, through dense rainforest into the most remote and wild part of the national park.
